Menopause is associated with a great reduction in estrogen production and it is the cause of changes in vaginal flora. The physiological reduction in estrogen production remains very problematic and causes many symptoms of atrophic vaginitis in postmenopausal women. The aim of this paper is to review the influence of hormonal changes on vaginal flora.
